FNM Report, Saturday (DeCards)

Alright suddenly I feel like telling the rundown of last sat's FNM and how I fared. In all respect I think I had a good run with my deck despite the score (lost twice - won once). I was piloting my WW (first time ever). As it is, the following were conjured in a flurry of brainbursts and purely based on how well I remember the event, so I stand to be corrected.

Round 1 (Mirror)
Nothing much to talk about mirror match, but his deck came out faster than mine, albeit more inconsistent I would think because he told me he only runs 22 lands. Though Knight of White Orchid can fetch, I am still not sold on the lower land count. I lost the first game to the hated brave elements (and mine didn't appear the whole match) and the second to elspeth and aeronaut which made two creeps fly over me. I have to say he did draw answers to my everything, and I did not, so I guess it did not do justice as to how my deck stands.

Round 2 (Vampires)
This is perhaps the best round of the three even though I lost. Both games were very close and could have gone both ways. First game, I had a 8/8 baneslayer and multiple creeps on board but cannot break through as he had a bloodwitch (curse you malakir!!) and the board was a stalemate. We were both on topdecking mode and I just needed a brave or a pledge and he needed a tendrils. Eventually he did topdeck it and game two it goes (interesting mention - my sideboards did not see the light of day at all throughout the whole round). I wonder if he did something to my deck...

Game two I came out strong and resolved a fifth turn pledge of 3/3s thanks to honor and ajani and a next turn's alpha strike's set up nicely if not for his gayest/most gay play of the day - the turn before he had a nocturnus out revealing swamp, then he drew swamp, revealing a black card, played sorin markov, had me at 10 life and swung in for the win. I mean, what can anyone say when they get beaten up in a single turn like that? Respect lor! My life was still untouched before that LOL...

3rd Round (Another Vampires)
Game one and two I cannot really remember, pretty vague, I just know we tied one game apiece to move to the decider.

In the decider I had the gayest post-sideboard draw possible. I started with 3 plains, 3 celestial purge, 1 white knight and I kept (risky, since a gatekeeper would blow me out if I draw no creatures the next turns).

But oh my, what a god draw I had! I was on the draw, as he lost the previous game, and I drew a devout lightcaster. Next turn I drew another white knight and I know there and then it's my game to lose. Quick beatdown by three P-Blacks? No way I'm losing that game especially with 3 purges in hand.

I apologized to him after that game though, because I think it's kinda gay...

There you go, I think it needs more time, but post-sideboard WW still commands generally quite good matchup against most of the meta right now, and pre-sideboard can take care of alot of controls. I think its bad matchup is bushwhacker but I would take a bad matchup anyday. Which deck hasn't? As long as it is up against a deck that has elements of black or red inside (which is most decks now), post-sideboard WW still has good answers.

Special mention - Sanctifiers are very underrated, and in mirrors I can take out honors, others I can take out obelisks or quests while having a respectable body to boot.

Another special mention - Kenneth dropped by (released by his wife I think LOL) but missed the FNM. Nonetheless, we had quite a good laugh of a game of two-headed with Danial and his friend. I think there is a need for two-headed giant/dragon tourneys, anyone?
